posted on 2nd Apr 2009
Cintel International announced today a record quarter for its diTTo 2K/4K pin registration film scanner with the sale of diTTo's to Eurolab (Rome), Digiquest (Hyderabad), Bewegte Bilder (Tubingen) and Cinemateca Brasilia (Sao Paulo). The first three of the systems have been installed with the last one scheduled for delivery in the next two weeks. This record quarter of sales since the product was introduced in 2006 confirms the diTTo's technical excellence and the need for fast, accurate and cost effective film scanners.
diTTo is the fastest pin registration film scanner available, scanning 2K at over 12 frames per second in black and white with 4K colour output at 3 frames per second. diTTo's unique features include the incorporation of Kodak Color Science for machine and monitor calibration and the optical Dust/Scratch Concealment Option - D/SCO. diTTo also now supports Bright Systems' Bright Clip workflow enhancement system.
Carsten Schuffert, CEO of Bewegte Bilder Digital Cinema in Tubingen, Germany, stated: "We chose diTTo over the alternatives for a number of reasons. Firstly, the picture performance was key. diTTo produces exceptionally good pictures. As Germany's number one mastering facility for Digital Cinema, image quality is very important to us. Secondly, it is very easy to use and fitted into our workflow very nicely. And thirdly the price! It is a very powerful and fast machine for the cost."
Andrea Terilli from Eurolab in Rome, Italy, said: "The diTTo scanner performs at the highest quality and I am really satisfied about the resolution at 2K for the 16mm film. It is also a very reliable and simple unit because, after having been installed and tested in only two days, it has been used without any interruption for two full feature films."
Head of Marketing at Digiquest Studios in Hyderabad, Charan, added: "Image quality was our primary consideration when looking for a film scanner. We found that the picture quality from diTTo was superb and that the Dust and Scratch Concealment Option, D/SCO, was amazing! diTTo fits nicely into our digital intermediate workflow and is very easy to use."
Simon Clark, Cintel's Business Development Manager, commented: "It is great to see that diTTo's combination of the absolute highest picture quality, very high transfer speed and great user-friendliness makes it the film scanner of choice in a very competitive arena. The fact that these latest members of the diTTo user group occupy different world markets, and have differing film scanning needs, confirms that diTTo really does offer an exceptional price/performance proposition. We are looking forward to adding to diTTo's comprehensive feature list with the new diTTo evolution scanner being launched at NAB 2009."
