Gosfilmofond film specialists commits to Cintel Technology

Russian film archive specialists, Gosfilmofond, have now taken delivery of two Millennium ‘data-cines’, one diTTo film scanner and six imageMill image processing platforms.
Gosfilmofond, based in Moscow, Russia are holders of one of the largest film collections with over 65,000 titles. When they started looking to upgrade their standard definition film scanning equipment, they found there was only one place to go to – UK manufacturer Cintel.
Gosfilmofonds Vice Chief Engineer Michail Vasin stated – “our Ursa Telecines have been absolute work-horses providing the highest quality images with amazing reliability. We looked at the competitive film scanner manufacturers but Cintel was always our first choice. We are now able to scan film from 16mm and 35mm up to 65 and 70mm in SD HD 2K and 4K".
System Integrator Viacheslav Treyster from Film-Video, Russia explained further “the demands from Gosfilmofond were high but Cintel delivered. The range of capabilities that the Millennium and diTTo film scanners provide is unparalleled. Additionally, the imageMill GRACE and imageMill STEADY tools allow us to manage film grain issues as well as image instability in real time with no loss of resolution and without the introduction of image artefacts”.
The Millennium ‘data-cine’ is the only film scanner capable of real time SD and HD film transfers as well as 2K at 15fps and 4K at 5fps from all the major film gauges including 8mm/S8mm/MAX8mm, 16mm/S16mm, 35mm/S35mm and 65/70mm.
The diTTo film scanner provides pin registration film scanning in 2K and 4K at up to 4.5fps. The unique D/SCO optical dust and scratch concealment system enables ‘real-time’ artefact-free image restoration.
The imageMill image processing platform can run GRACE – real time Spatial and Recursive Film Grain management and STEADY – real time post production quality Image Stabilisation.
