Pictorion Das Werk Berlin have been successfully beta testing Cintel Internationals cutting edge ‘diTTo evolution’ film scanner.

Leading European Post Production facility Pictorion Das Werk in Berlin have been working closely together with film scanner manufacturer Cintel International on the in-field beta testing of the 2K/4K Data Film Scanner diTTo evolution.

Leading Colourist Moritz Peters enthused about the image quality “diTTo evolution produces picture quality that easily stands up to competing top-scanners, which we tested extensively. The images from the diTTo scanner are very sharp, have excellent colourimetry and geometry and the stability is perfect.  Furthermore we profit from the ‘digital wet-gate’ D/SCO, which allows reparation of heavy scratches directly during the scanning process and reduces extensive digital retouches”.

Pictorion Managing Director Wolf Bosse commented “diTTo evolution is very easy to use indeed.  All our operators were able to get up and running, importing EDL’s and scanning film in just a couple of hours.  The film scanner fits our needs very well.  We are eagerly following developments on the diTTo camera, which promises even higher contrast ratios and frames rates….”

diTTo evolution offers a modular and upgradeable solution to film scanning.  Building on the successful elements of the renowned diTTo scanner including unequalled image performance, easy to use Interface and the famous D/SCO - Dust/Scratch Concealment option, diTTo evolution additionally provides a fast shuttle capability, non-pin registration mode for archive scanning and a 3.2D density range.  A new faster 4K camera is due for launch at NAB in April 2010.

Simon Carter, Cintel’s Sales Director, commented; “diTTo evolution is a solution to all film scanning needs.  It can evolve from a simple-to-use, pin registration scanner for Digital Intermediate with superb image quality from Negative Film, to a multi-format, non-pin registration machine for shrunken and damaged film including a 3.2D density range for excellent Print film results.  The work that Pictorion Das Werk have done to help us refine diTTo evolution has been excellent and their feedback extremely constructive.  To have our new scanner in the hands of true professionals from the very beginning means that when we bring the product to market we can be assured of great performance”
