Cintel International at NAB 2007

Cintel will be showing their range of film scanning solutions at NAB 2007, along with a number of other exciting developments. Come and see us at our new stand in the South Hall, location SL2820.

With the dataMill-2K/4K dual purpose scanner/telecine, post-production houses can now upgrade to real time SD/HD telecine transfers within their existing workflow, and at the same time offer 2K and 4K data ingest at speeds of up to 15fps as they build their digital intermediate (DI) facilities. dataMill is the only data film scanner capable of scanning 8/S8mm, 16/S16mm, 35/S35mm and 65/70mm film.

The new Millennium-HD telecine system configuration means that SD/HD transfers are now more affordable than ever, and with a wide range of upgrade paths and maintenance options available customers can be assured that we will support their business for many years to come.

For customers requiring a dedicated film scanner, the Cintel diTTo offers pin-registered film scanning to Super 2K and 4K files in a low-cost, compact and stylish package. At NAB we will be launching the new 16mm/S16mm gate, allowing scanning of the vast majority of film used in DI processing. Working with our customers at Nordisk Film (Stockholm) and Instituto Luce (Rome) we've also enhanced the film handling abilities of the 35mm gate to deal with less than perfect film. Since its launch last year, over 10 units have been delivered to facilities across the world, consistently producing accurate scans in demanding environments ranging from DI to archival and restoration.

We will also be demonstrating the D/SCO dust and scratch concealment option which allows the user a controllable amount of optical correction at the scanner itself and works with all film emulsions including black and white stock.

The Cintel imageMill image processing platform, now in service at some 40 facilities worldwide running the GRACE and STEADY applications will be shown. STEADY allows real time SD and HD sub-pixel image stabilisation of either film or video acquired images. 2K and 4K data can be stabilised at up to 15fps via HSDL. Grace is a true, multi-standard grain reduction tool, enabling users to get the best from their images by providing any degree of grain removal to acquire the desired look. imageMill can work at resolutions from SD through HD to 2K and 4K data, regardless of film gauge and image format, running tape-to-tape or disc-to-disc.

Cintel CEO Phil Bousfield said "Cintel offers an unbeatable range of film scanning solutions, allowing us to continue supporting post-production facilities of all sizes and budgets. I'm looking forward to meeting our customers and partners at NAB, to discuss how we will help them drive their business forward."
