Y-Front
Using light to improve performance. The Y-Front cell box is a unique optical device, designed to capture the maximum light, thereby radically improving quality and performance, during the film transfer process. With a wider lens capturing far more light and a significantly shortened, mirror-free, light path, it vastly improves noise and resolution performance AND renders most film scratches invisible.

Colourists will love the natural, filmic, almost organic look. And the ease with which you can achieve the initial colour balance inspires immediate confidence in the most impatient of clients! This device has been designed especially for URSA telecines, and replaces the existing telecine cell box, with a simpler and far more efficient optical design.

SCAN'dAL
Anti-aliasing system: Giving you the complete picture. SCAN'dAL is a user-adjustable tool, designed to prevent the distortion or aliasing of fine image detail contained in most film sequences - often seen on images such as vertical blinds, chrome on cars or fine horizontal lines.The system works by changing the scanning spot into an elliptical shape, so that the spot is able to scan areas of the film that previously fell between scan lines and were not 'seen' by the telecine. In many instances the change to spot focus improves picture sharpness, and in all cases the pictures have a much more naturally detailed look.

TWiGi
Improving performance: The quiet revolution. TWiGi is a great innovation, which has transformed URSA telecine noise and resolution performance as well as dramatically extending the telecine CRT life.

Rather than attempting to reduce or filter the noise, TWiGi has been designed to prevent it occurring in the first place, by tackling the visual noise introduced as the scanned material is converted from analog to digital signals. The result is a very significant improvement in picture quality - without disturbing any of the other performance parameters of the URSA telecine

Tube correction system

Tube grain and burn eliminator for use with the URSA range of telecine.

The kit includes:

Replacement Head Amplifiers
Pre-emphasis box
Replacement Analogue to Digital Converters
Associated cabling and mechanics

Benefits include an improved noise performance, virtually eliminates tube grain and Run/Stop colourimetry errors. Tube life is significantly extended.

SCAN'dAL
Anti-alias system
Aliasing occurs because the detail on the film far exceeds SD scan resolutions. CRT spot size has evolved to increase horizontal resolution, however this results in gaps between scan lines, aliasing or Moiré occurs as a result. SCAN'dAL works by creating an elliptical spot that can be controlled dynamically.

The kit includes:

Replacement Scan output card
Astigmator assembly,
Amplifier.
S35mm offset lens barrel
Associated cabling and mechanics

Benefits include SD anti alias (dynamically controllable), Increased light output from the CRT (lower noise) and geometry correction for each gate. Note SCAN'dAL requires TWiGi to be fitted.

Y-Front
New Front End
A replacement Cell box with innovative design that reduces the length of the light path from CRT to sensors. Y-Front also features a wider angle of acceptance at the film plane allowing scattered light from scratches and dust to be picked up thus reducing their effect on the image.

Y-Front includes:

Replacement cell-box and associated optics
Custom Built Photomultipliers
Replacement condensor lens and mounts for s35mm and
S16mm gates. Associated cabling and mechanics & replacement transport doors.

Benefits include significant dust and scratch reduction, better noise performance and improved negative colour channel characteristics.
Note Y-Front requires both SCAN'dAL and TWiGi to be fitted.
